CIPR Announces IP Colloquium Schedule
Five distinguished scholars from around the globe will visit the IU Maurer School of Law this fall to share their recent work during the Center for Intellectual Property Research IP Colloquium.
Titled “Protecting Intellectual Property: A Global Perspective,” the Colloquium will focus on recent developments in IP law in the United States and other countries. The speakers for the Colloquium are:
Rajan
September 8: Mira Sundara Rajan, Independent Scholar and IP Consultant and Honorary Member, Magdalen College, Oxford University. Rajan’s talk is titled, “Authors or Auteurs?” Moral Rights in Film.” More information about Rajan can be found on her website.
Craig
September 22: Carys Craig, Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, will speak on “Copyright, Communication, and IP Culture: Towards a Relational Theory of Copyright Law.”
Moyse
October 13: Pierre-Emmanuel Moyse, McGill University Faculty of Law, will address “Intellectual Property Rights and ‘Abuse of Rights’ Theory, a Jurisprudential Inquiry.”
Yu
October 27: Peter Yu, Drake University Law School, will discuss “The Graduated Response.”
Gervais
November 3: Daniel Gervais, Vanderbilt Law School, will examine “The Changing Landscape of Collective Rights Management.”
“We are honored to have these renowned scholars visit the Center,” said Marshall Leaffer, Distinguished Scholar in Intellectual Property Law and University Fellow and convener of the Colloquium. “Their talks will be of interest to any student or practitioner involved in intellectual property law.”
All talks begin at 1:30 and end at 3:25 in Room 213 of the Maurer School of Law. Indiana continuing legal education credit has been applied for. The public is welcome to attend.
